The story

From PowerStar to STRATOR 2.0

One continuous line across nearly two decades: from a bonneted truck on the other side of the world to the torpedo revealed again on 25 July.

  1. 1998
    The origin

    A nose from Australia

In 1998, IVECO developed the PowerStar in Australia: a heavy bonneted truck built to take on the American giants. Made for the road trains of the outback, it paired the comfort of a European cab with the muscle of American engines such as the Detroit Diesel Series 60 and the Cummins ISM and ISX. Its heaviest variant, the 7800, hauled train weights of up to 140 tonnes. A shape that planted an idea destined to cross the ocean.

  2. 2007
    The first Strator

    The torpedo comes to Europe

Importer CFG from Born brought the idea to the European road and showed the first STRATOR at the BedrijfsautoRAI: a Europe-built nose on a modern IVECO. The only bonneted torpedo rolling off the line in Europe.

  3. 2011
    Team De Rooy

    Proven in the desert

The PowerStar proved its toughness in the world's hardest rally. From 2011, Team De Rooy built a Dakar truck based on the PowerStar; in 2012 Gerard de Rooy won the Dakar in the truck category with it, and again in 2016. No greater test for a nose.

  4. 2019
    A new model

    The S-Way opens the door

In 2019, IVECO introduces an all-new model: the S-WAY. Its modern base, with more comfort, more refinement and new technology, creates the opportunity for a new STRATOR with a renewed nose.

  5. 2020
    Delivered across Europe

    Craftsmanship in small numbers

Over more than a decade, around fifty STRATOR trucks were built and delivered. The fiftieth went to England in 2020 as a right-hand-drive 6×4, one of the last examples of this generation.

  6. 25–26 JULY
    The reveal

    The nose returns

At the Profile Truckstar Festival at the TT Circuit Assen, the STRATOR 2.0 shows itself for the first time. After that it can be admired all weekend. The legend continues.
